Evenfall Tarot is…

Hi everyone, and welcome to Evenfall Tarot! I’m Jack Bruno (he/him), the writer and tarot reader behind this space. I’m located in Somerville, MA and do local and virtual personal readings, as well as events. I’ve been reading on and off since I was a tiny lad, and have a few guiding principles in my work:

Affirming and inclusive – I seek to hold space for all folks in my readings. I’m focused on giving reading based in an awareness and respect for folks’ identities and needs. I strive to approach my readings, and my life in general, with compassion and cultural humility. My work strives to be and intends to be an anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-ableist, sex positive, queer and trans centered, indigenously grounded, intersectional effort. I myself am a queer, transmasc, Native and white coded, college educated kid from a working class background (and more, because people are complicated!)

  • And since people are delightfully complicated and I might make a mistake or overlook something important – I am grateful for the opportunity to be called in and learn to do better. I’ve done a lot of work on identity, privilege and locating myself within these structures, but the work is never done. We’re constantly learning and unlearning!
  • Cooperative and responsive — My belief is that tarot is an act of co-creation, where the querent and the reader make meaning and find wisdom together through intuitive interpretation of symbols, archetypes and juxtaposition. To that end, my job as the reader is to offer narrative interpretations of what I find, and to facilitate the session so that the querent may find the most significant lessons for themselves.
  •  Empowering and supportive of agency — For me, tarot is about seeing a potential path, the root causes of some current issue, or potential outcome of a choice or series of choices. When folks leave a reading, I would like them to feel empowered to act and make the choices that best support their wellbeing. My readings are not fortune telling, nor do I consider myself a psychic. I believe that folks have their truth, and sometimes need help in finding it and taking steps in that direction. I want to help people know themselves well, and to have that introspective time inform their best lives.

I would love to use this space to…

  • Explore my own relationship to tarot and what draws me to this work
  • Reflect on card meanings
  • Think through what wisdom might be derived from tarot as a system and practice
  • Connect with folks who may be interested in reading together

And most importantly…

  • Hear from readers about their own experiences, interpretations and paths!

Thank you for reading, and stay tuned for an exploration of liminal spaces, reading with light and shadow, centering queer, trans and kinky folks and ways of being in tarot, questions about appropriation in tarot imagery, maybe some reviews, event announcements and more!

Your friendly neighborhood tarot nerd — Jack
